Discovery Education, CECA, and Meriden Public Schools are pleased to present:
CECA Pre-Conference Day of Discovery
at Lincoln Middle School in Meriden, CT on Saturday, October 22, 2011.
Designed specifically for Connecticut-area educators, this interactive day of free professional development will highlight creative ways to engage students and invigorate your curriculum using the latest 21st century tools. Whether you are new to Discovery Education or a long-time user in search of the latest instructional strategies, this event has something for everyone!
Our featured presenter at the Day of Discovery is Dr. Lodge McCammon. Lodge McCammon is a Specialist in Curriculum and Contemporary Media at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation (www.fi.ncsu.edu). He finished a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in 2008 where his work at The Friday Institute continues to bring innovative practices to students, teachers and schools. He developed a teaching and professional development process called FIZZ which encourages and models best practices in implementing user-generated video and online publishing in the classroom to enhance standards-based lessons. He is also a studio composer who writes standards-based songs, with supporting materials, about advanced curriculum for K-12 classrooms. Discovery Education will provide a certificate of attendance at the event and attendees can leverage that wiith their school or district to get CEU's, but Discovery Education does not provide CEUs.
2) Is there an agenda for the event?
The agenda will be posted on this page when it is finalized and it will be emailed to anyone that is already registered.
